Kingsport City Schools to Hold Pre-K Screenings and Kindergarten Registration for 2025-2026 School Year

 
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools will hold Pre-K Screenings (by appointment only) on Friday, March 7, 2025 and Friday, April 4 at the Palmer Early Learning Center. Kindergarten Registration will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at all KCS elementary schools in Kingsport. 
 
Pre-K Screenings (not registration) for the 2025-26 school year (by appointment only) will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 and Friday, April 4, 2025 between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., located at the Palmer Early Learning Center, 1609 Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport.
 
Only Kingsport residents with children four (4) years of age on or before August 15, 2025 are eligible for Pre-K Screening. 
 
Children do not have to attend the March 7th or the April 4th appointments. Parents/guardians must schedule an appointment by calling the Palmer Center at (423) 378.2160 and bring the following:
  • Original Birth Certificate (recommended), mother's copy, or proof of birth;
  • Last four (4) digits of Social Security number (optional);
  • Custodial documents (if applicable);
  • Proof of up-to-date Tennessee Immunization - you may contact the health department or local physician for assistance;
  • Proof of Residency Verification (mortgage statement, formal rental lease, property tax receipt or most recent water/electric bill);
  • Proof of Family Income for Pre-K only (income tax form [last year's 1040A,1040 or W-2], letters from the Dept. of Human Services verifying income, Food Stamp status number, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families/Families First/Transitional Families First case number, Pay Stubs, Child Support status verified, Unemployment Compensation, Supplemental Security Income verification or Employer Letter verifying pay).
Once documentation is reviewed at the initial screening, children will be screened in-person by appointment at a later time. Pre-K classes are offered Monday – Friday between 8:15 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Classes follow the Kingsport City Schools calendar, but please note that transportation is not provided. Current Pre-K locations (subject to change) include Palmer Early Learning Center, V.O. Dobbins Community Center, Adams Elementary, Jackson Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, and Lincoln Elementary Schools.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-26 school year will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. or 4 - 6 p.m. at all Kingsport City Elementary Schools throughout Kingsport. 
 
Children do not have to be present for Kindergarten Registration. In lieu of attending the registration event in-person, parents/guardians have the option to register their child(ren) online at k12k.com - Student Registration beginning March 1, 2025. 
 
Only Kingsport residents with children five (5) years of age on or before August 15, 2025 are eligible for Kindergarten. Parents/guardians must register at the school zoned for their residence; only parents or legal guardians may complete student registration documentation. 
 
Parents/guardians must bring the following to register their child:
  • Original Birth Certificate (recommended), mother's copy, or proof of birth;
  • Last four (4) digits of Social Security number (optional);
  • Custodial documents (if applicable);
  • Proof of up-to-date Tennessee Immunization - you may contact the health department or local physician for assistance;
  • Proof of Residency Verification (mortgage statement, formal rental lease, property tax receipt or most recent water/electric bill).
The student enrollment form must be completed by the student's parent or legal guardian only. Children will not be allowed to attend school until all of the documentation listed above is provided.
